Three Castles Trophy

9 Jun 2017

This year's Three Castles was a departure from the normal three-day event, with the running of a one-day Trophy Rally. The organisers are planning a return to the full format for 2018.

Lee and Yvonne Matthews competed on the event and their report can be read here:

The Three Castle Trophy was open to classic cars of all ages from 1921 to 1985. C & A Motor Club was down to run three consecutive tests during the morning at Faenol, Penrhyn Castle and the A55 Underpass, near Bangor Rugby Club. Being a Friday and a working day for most people, marshals were a bit thin on the ground but our chairman, Huw Gwyn, had managed to badger an adequate number of friends, family members and retirees to man the pertinent points. Our vice-chairman Lee Matthews was competing in an Escort with wife Yvonne and unfortunately suffered a mis-fire from early on and then had to retire when the half-shaft snapped.

The organisers indicate that the 2018 event will revert to a three-day Three Castles Trial for its fifteenth edition. You can keep up-to-date with the latest at www.three-castles.co.uk.
