Around thirty members attended this Table Top Navigation Evening, which was arranged as a session of practice and information prior to the Valentine Novice Rally.
Joint Clerks of the Course Will Hughes and Deio Hughes, with assistance from our chairman Huw Gwyn Jones had prepared an excellent Powerpoint presentation to highlight the aspects of preparing to compete on a road rally,including presenting the car for scrutineering and the importance of reading and understanding the Motorsport UK General Regulations (known as the Blue Book) and the event's Supplementary Regulations.
The evening included some route plotting practice and a look at time cards and route cards and the approach to recording times, passage controls and route checks. Expert navigators Gruff Parry and Merfyn Williams were on hand to give advice and a helping hand with the practical exercises.
Thanks to all involved in making the evening a success.

The plan for the evening is to cover documentation and the importance of an event's Supplementary Regulations and the Motorsport UK Yearbook ('Blue Book'); plotting practice; time cards; vehicle preparation; and a Question & Answer session to finish.
Copies of the appropriate map and romers will be supplied, but you will need a pencil and probably a good idea to bring an eraser as well!
