John Fife, a legend of reporting on rallies, especially on the scene in Scotland, for over fifty years, has announced his retirement. His final event as a motor sports reporter was the Galloway Hills Rally of 10th September 2022.
Renowned for the regular location photos of his rally boots, his reports on events were always informative, amusing and sympathetic (where appropriate). His knowledge of the ins and outs of rallying would be hard to better and his online magazine at http://www.jaggybunnet.co.uk/ is a mine of information. Coincidentally, this writer was checking out a report on the Vauxhall Rally of Wales in the Rally Sport magazine of April 1997 and came across an account of John's interview with the late Finnish great, Pentti Airikkala (see below).
John assures us that he will continue to attend rallies, but only as a spectator from now on. We thank him for all his writings over the years and wish him a long and happy retirement.
